Boise Selected As New Venue For Idaho College Murders Trial

Boise Selected as New Venue for Idaho College Murders Trial

Trial to Begin in September 2023

Bryan Kohberger, 28, will face a jury in Ada County

A judge has ordered that the trial of Bryan Kohberger, the suspect in the murders of four University of Idaho students, will be moved from Moscow, Idaho, to Boise, the state capital. The trial is scheduled to begin on September 12, 2023.

The decision to change venues was made after the judge agreed with Kohberger's lawyers that it would be difficult to seat an impartial jury in Moscow. The small town has been deeply affected by the murders, and many potential jurors have already formed opinions about the case.

Boise is a larger city with a more diverse population, and it is hoped that a jury can be seated there that will be able to fairly consider the evidence in the case.

Kohberger Faces Death Penalty

Kohberger is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

The victims of the murders were Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.

Investigation Continues

The investigation into the murders is ongoing, and prosecutors have not yet released all of the evidence against Kohberger.

However, it is believed that he used a knife to kill the victims in their off-campus home in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022.

Kohberger was arrested in Pennsylvania on December 30, 2022.
