International Women's Day: A Day of Resistance and Action

Facing Attacks from Right-Wing Governments

A Call to Action for Global Feminist Strike

March 8 marks International Women's Day, a day of feminist protest across the globe. This year, the focus is on resisting attacks on women's rights from right-wing governments everywhere.

From Poland to the United States, women are facing an unprecedented rollback of their hard-won gains. In Poland, the government has imposed a near-total ban on abortion, sparking mass protests and a wave of international condemnation.

In the United States, the Trump administration has systematically rolled back protections for women, including access to healthcare, reproductive rights, and equal pay. The administration has also appointed several judges with a history of anti-abortion views, putting the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision at risk.

These attacks on women's rights are not isolated incidents. They are part of a global backlash against gender equality. In response, feminists around the world are calling for a global feminist strike on March 8, 2020.

The strike will take many forms, including work stoppages, school walkouts, and consumer boycotts. The goal is to demonstrate the power and importance of women's labor and to send a clear message to governments that women will not tolerate attacks on their rights.
